22!

Yet another exciting day of my life. I’m turning 22 in about one hour. Woohoo. Just got back from my parent’s house not too long ago. My mom buys me the best gifts ever, of course she is the one who knows me the most. And then there is my dad’s awesome cooking. He’s known as “The Grill Master” in these neck of the woods. But yes, I figured I’d start my new birth year off with a little art update. I’ve been really busy with school lately (no time for painting booo) but I’ve had a lot of time in my B&W darkroom photography class. Here are just a few of the pictures I’ve taken this semester, and my this semester went by so fast, I’m already on my final project in there. I’m looking forward to posting the results.

PINHOLE CAMERA

Well, I started my first semester at the University. It’s definitely different from community college. MUCH MUCH bigger as well as harder. I was expecting my classes to be more demanding than they were before, most of them are art classes so I think I'll manage. I'm also taking Psychoanalytical Dynamics of Women. QUITE interesting. We are talking about how girls are socially brought up to be more passive and boys are encouraged to be more active. Also, about the symptoms of A.D.H.D. (attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder) in little boys vs. little girls. The symptoms in boys are a lot more obvious than with girls. Little boys are usually very vocal when it comes to just about anything, so it is easy to determine when they aren’t able to pay attention. Little girls on the other hand are usually more timid and the symptoms they encounter are more zoning out rather than energetically losing focus. So more boys than girls are diagnosed with A.D.H.D.
If you are a female artist then you probably know where I am going with this. We can hardly concentrate on three things at once let alone one. Ha.
But anyways, getting back on track to the whole reason why I decided to update…..
I’m going to post every single one of my Black and White Photography I assignments to give people ideas and inspiration to keep life interesting. My first assignment of the semester was to make a pinhole camera and make two positive images, two negative images, and two test strips. Kodak has a pretty good “How to make a pinhole camera” page:

And here's is my pinhole camera image

So if you ever have access to a darkroom then this would be a fun experiment to try out!
HAVE FUN!

Bye Bye Summer

Welp, summer is up and school starts in a day. boooooo. I thoroughly enjoyed my first summer off in 3 years. Oh well…that just means there is more progress to be made and more mixed media work to produce. I do look forward to this semester because it’ll be my first actual college photography class that I’ve taken. Woot. Can’t wait! Anyways, this is a picture that I made for a colleague of mine….(well this was it before the wax process)
And this is a picture of my messy art area that I work at.
